Question: My Chihuahua is defecating inside the house - what should I do? Melbourne
My two tear old chihuahua x mini foxy is completely toilet trained and will go on command. Recently she has began defacting in every room of the house at night when everyone else is asleep. She has access to outdoors and also to our bed. Please help me.

In home toileting is often a sign of lack of leadership - in other words the dogs say this is my house and I can do what I want. I would restrict access for one and close all doors and/or get a pen / crate for her, so it will be controlled. Next issue is how to become a leader? This may require amongst other things a lot less mollycoddling, carrying, responding to her etc. You may want to seek some professional dog training advice on this. Please clean all the spots in the house with 1/3 white vinegar, 2/3 water solution, so you remove the scent.

Question RE: Spoodle Agression - November 20, 2011
We have a 2yr old Spoodle, and we have just noticed that she has started to become agressive over food,And we tried to touch her ear to clean it out and she snappedat us .Bought a muzzle to clean her ears , is this correct and we are hand feeding how long do we continue this.She also barks continually when we first let her out in the morning,at the cat smells in the back yard.how do we stop her barking inside and outside,is the muzzle cruel, she is usually a very active dog that loves to be with us and licks us alot.we also noticed that when we took her back to dog training she started to growl at certain dogs. (she was attacked by a german shepard at 6mths.

I think you have some leadership issues and the dog barks and you respond, the dog comes to you gets a pat ? all initiated by the dog, not the leader. A muzzle often makes things worse, as it addressed the issue but not the cause. The cause is that she decides what can be done. I would recommend hand-feeding for a while, but you taking the food from her bowl and giving it to her, so she learns the bowl is yours, not hers. Start very slowly touching her, without any purpose, so she starts to trust you that you will do the right thing and also touch her ears. 1 in 4 people get bitten when they have to address an ear infection!! She may have issues with other dogs due to her experience and that requires ?on the ground? help ? get some local professional advice for this.

Question: I have a 3 month old American Staffy who urinates on his bedding, whether he is inside or outside. He doesn't like lying on the bedding after it is wet so why does he do it? How can I stop him?

It may be habit forming from when the pup was very young and mum would clean the den after the puppies. At what age did you get the pup? If well before 8 weeks this may well be the reason. I suggest that the bedding is properly cleaned and disinfected and sprayed with a white vinigar solution to remove the scent and let that air dry. I would recommend to take the puppy out more often with lots of praise when the puppy does the right thing by learning to go elsewhere. If persist change the bedding for eg a carpet cut off.
