About me:

I have been around dogs from a very early age, owned several dogs and eventually became very keen to learn more about my four legged companions. Ten years ago I was a Volunteer with a Delta Instructor and eventually took a correspondence course for Dog Trainers as well as a course on Dog Care. After a further year as a volunteer with a Dog Training Club I became a Certified Instructor teaching owners the reward based, Positive Reinforcement Method. I found this method a great improvement from earlier methods using check chains, dominance control etc.

Why I practise what I preach:

In 2006 I attended a Seminar in Brisbane held by Jan Fennell (an international renowned Dog Listener). I then began to question current training practices and felt that there was something missing from the methods used today. I then met Jenny Golsby (an Australian recognised Dog Listener) and became fascinated with Jan Fennell's methods. I began to read all Jan's books, watch her DVD and listen to her CDs. I started to put Jan's methods into practice with my own dogs, and with the help of Jenny Golsby I was amazed at the difference I saw, even though I thought my dogs were already pretty well behaved.

Improve your relationship with your dog without harsh training methods.

I have become passionate about this and I want to help and show people how to understand and communicate with their dogs, without any hard or harsh treatment whatsoever, and enhance their wonderful experiences with their canine friends. I get great pleasure from my dogs. Both enjoy Agility and my elder one, Bundy, completed a clear round in his first competition. My younger dog has just started taking Agility Classes and is showing great promise. Bundy my elder dog is a Delta Health Visitor to Nursing Homes and Hospitals

What I will do for you and your dog:

I will come to your house and work with you and with all your family members. I will explain how you can understand and communicate with your dog in a way it will understand. You will learn to deal with common problems simply by getting your dog to elect you as its Leader. You will learn four foundation methods which you will need to adopt so that your dog will elect you as its leader. (The 4 foundation methods are: Status (Separation & re-uniting), Food (the power), Hunt (walk) and Danger (barking & fear) - who is in charge?

Cost of service:

Consultation fee of $250 (including GST) will cover my visit to your house (within the Brisbane area) for a 3 to 4 hour visit, and follow up with emails and phone calls for one year. Travel outside the Brisbane area can be discussed

Additional Service: 6 Week Courses : ABC Puppy & Adolescence
